My Last #RoadTrip

Okay... so things have been pretty somber here on the blog, Sorry, not sorry.

Today I wanted to share a story, #storytime, the last roadtrip I took.... with my dad.

We took so many road trips when I was little.... mainly because buying a plane ticket was to expensive and we never went out of Texas, lol. Texas is so big you really don't have to leave it to go on a road trip, right?! My childhood is also smashed together, I really don't remember how old I was, I have too look at photos or ask my mom, she remembers everything!

So, I think I was about 16 years old because dad made me drive several times during our road trip, and this was our first road trip out of Texas! Our destination... LAS VEGAS! It was our first time to Vegas, lots of firsts in this road trip. I can safety say it was my favorite too. Here are some highlights from the trip....
  • Having to pick out which convenience store might have better bathrooms!
  • Stopping at McDonald's outside of Texas and they didn't have a "Texas Homestyle"
  • Getting sunburn by walking down "The Strip" in Vegas during the day!
  • Not paying the entry fee at The Grand Canyon
  • Crying as we saw the sunrise at The Grand Canyon
  • Taking photos at weird angles back then (pre-selfie)
Ahhh, those were the days... Follow me on Instagram to see some photos. I just organized some photos that my sister brought, so I'm going to put some up and tag her in them, lol. Thanks to my dad, I love driving and thing of him every time I see the sunrise. He's no longer with us, though I wish he was so he could fill-up the gas tank every now-and-then!

Here's a photo of him at our last family reunion and my feet after walking on the beach (for an hour) during our last road trip to Corpus Christi Beach. Miss you Daddy!

  1. Texas is HUGE you're right! My daughter went to college in Georgetown. Her roommate (native Texan) was surprised to discover that every state does not have its own version of Chevy truck either. Texas style is a big thing there...no pun intended!

  2. It's cool you have this travel memory with your Dad. Mine is gone too, but we took lots and lots of trips camping & visiting places for me to remember him with.

Ungrateful during Thanksgiving?

Hubby made me cry on Thanksgiving.... The usual share what you're thankful for, he just went all out talking about how we had one of the toughest years and we were apart from each other for six months and how much he missed us and it just sucked. Ohhhh, the waterfalls!! But yeah, it was the longest year ever. Speaking of Thanksgiving.... HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Reminds me of something that's been on my mind....

We just moved out of the valley and guess what?! The worst part moving to a new place was not the moving. Before we moved I scoped out our neighborhood, grocery stores, parks and I joined several mom groups. I knew negative Nancy’s were bound to share their troubles in Facebook groups but I’ve never heard so many complaints in one day.

I don’t know what it is but I don’t like when people complain. I just think to myself, “Did you really have to share that?” or about an easy solution to that complaint. There would have been a better way to spend your time than writing a n…
