Upcycled "Love You To Pieces" Wreath

I "Heart" You to Pieces - Valentines Wreath

Supplies:

Tissue Paper
Cardboard/cardstock/foamboard
Glue
Puzzle pieces
Newspaper
Paint and brush
String/Ribbon
How many times have you spent hours working on a puzzle and were missing pieces? And then spent more hours looking for for those pieces! So frustrating. I had seen a card on Pinterest that said “Love you to pieces” And it donged on me! There are several wreaths that use puzzle pieces to make a heart, and I was looking for something that was a bit more toddler friendly. So I thought I would merge the card and wreath idea. While we were doing this craft I was also folding up tissue paper from Christmas (Yes, I reuse tissue paper) so I thought outlining it would be fun for Annaleah as well. To recreate the craft follow the directions below:
1.       Cut out your heart from the material of choice, we used a thick cardboard.
2.       Then we warmed up our hot glue gun
3.       I had annaleah help spread out the newspaper and turn over all the puzzle pieces and start painting them
4.       Since our cardboard piece was already black, we left it that color, but you can also paint it a contrasting or any color you wish.
5.       As the puzzle pieces dry, we cut out two strips of white tissue paper about 2-3” thick and 2 feet long.
6.       Place a dot of hot glue and place a puzzle piece on top (becareful). Annaleah was able to do this and had fun trying to remove all the hot glue gun strings as well.
7.       Annaleah used a glue stick to rub along the edge of the cardboard heart and then you can either bunch up or fold the tissue paper accordion style and press it along the heart so that about one inch is sticking out
8.       Repeat that step to make it more fluffier. We also glued it closer to the edge of the heart so you can tell there is two layers of tissue paper.
9.       We had some red straw ribbon that we tied two knots at either end and hot glued it on the back to hang.
There are so many variations to this craft and you can even print out puzzle pieces and have your kids, if you have older kids, cut out the puzzle pieces to practice hand eye coordination and cutting skills. You can also do this in a smaller version to use for a card. Annaleah was so proud holding up the Valentines wreath that she made.
Other Toddler-friendly activities that we did together watch this VIDEO! And subscribe while you are there cus I'll be sharing more crafts with ya'll.

All of these crafts can be done with things you already have or maybe up to a few dollars and most items you can find at dollar stores.

TIP: Designate a blanket for arts and crafts that you lay on the floor, like for painting. You can also use a fitted sheet to put on top of your dining room table also.
