So if you are friends with me on Facebook you know that I went off Facebook for about a month, during the beginning of Summer so that I could focus on me, my girls and just the family in general. I had just stretched myself so thin that I just needed a break from it all! I was still on Instagram, sharing photos of our Summer Adventures (#TheAverageSummer), but cut Facebook out of my life.
Then I came back and everything was great, until school started and things started to get hectic again. My sister posted one day that during this fragile transition, back to school takes a toll on the whole family and, to shorten the story, put down our electronic devices and communicate with each other and help one another during the beginning of the new school year rather than waiting till it's too late and your child has failed half the semester. I don't want to brag, but our girls are pretty smart and we know that wouldn't happen, but we thought about it. I looked at my husband after reading my sisters Facebook post and asked him,
"Do you think we could do it?"
"Are you serious?"
"Okay then. Yes, I think we could do it."And that was that. Starting September 1st we will no longer internet service at our home. Now, of course, I will still be on social media, just not while at home. We will be focusing on our girls, their homework, reading, exercising, communicating and just having fun with each other.
I ask that you talk about how much screen time your family is getting and consider taking this challenge or maybe just putting your cell phones down when you get home from school or work, or turn off the TV during dinner time. Check on your childs' progress at school.
Leave me a comment down below with your thoughts and I will see you back here in 30 days (I will still blog here and there)!
PS. I am joining RGV Moms Blog as a contributor, head on over there and watch out for my blog post next month!
