#MomFail, No School!

You know we've all had those days, where your mind is just all over the place. It totally sucks that our Mom minds work differently than Dads! We need to make sure that we have all we need and all dad does is make sure everyone is out of the house in five minutes. And I always have everything we need and dragging it to the van, with no help! Sometimes it catches up with us....

A few months ago it happened! And that wasn't the first or the last.

So the week before we had got our parent newsletter and was also was reminded when we picked up Eliada from school that there was no school on Monday, we remembered all weekend also, excited that it would be a 3-day weekend for her.

Well, Monday came, I got up, did Eliadas hair and got dressed. Yvette, our oldest gets a ride from my mom because she works right across the street and they did have school. So she was gone and then I left with Eliada a few minutes later. We had the radio up and singing. We talked about what the week held for us and such. We had totally forgot that there was no school.

It hit me right when we turned the intersection! There were no cars in front, where the teachers park. And I yelled, literally, "Eliada!! You have no school today!" We drove to the pick-up/drop-off area and there was a line of cars. The gate doesn't open till 7:15 and we were a bit early. I drove up to the cars, rolled down my window and said, "There's no school today. We just remembered!" The look on their faces, it was the same as mine when I remembered. #MOMFAIL!

It was a gloomy day and I had scheduled a walk/run date with a friend of mine. So I brought her along. It was on the chilly side and Eliada didn't have a jacket, but I did have my mai tai carrier, so on my back she went. We did two miles, boy was it a workout!

So, my mom fail wasn't that horrible. We spent the rest of the day together till we had to pick up Yvette from school.

Check out my weekly vlog to laugh at me more, lol! Tell me I'm not the only one!

  1. You weren't the only one! Oh my gosh I can totally see myself doing this though. At least you showed up instead of missing a day of school when there actually WAS school!

Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!

Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
