Change the Wolrd Wednesday: Comfort Zone

Change The World Wednesday on Reduce Footprints

Aplogies for being late.... it's now Friday, lol. With all the school functions and decorating fun we did this week, I totally forgot about blogging in general :) I hope ya'll have a great holiday weekend and I kinda like Halloween because people are a bit more green than they normally are. Everyone is walking (i dislike the families that just jump in the back of the truck and stop at every house), and some parents make their childrens costumes and such, so yeah.

How did last weeks challenge go? You can check out Reduce Footprints blog for a recap and follow me on Instagram, I'll post a pic of my straw pouch that I made and we only went out to eat once this week for a quick lunch and used it :)

Oh and I also got word from a friend that November is "No Plastic November!" So no plastic bags are to be used while shopping. One local city has a plastic bag ban and another is voting on it soon. I just ordered some more reusable straws and a grocery cart bag, and super excited cus it was only $7.99! I also got a 4-pk of reusable straws (with a cleaner) for only $2!! SCORE!

Moving on.... this weeks challenge, it's a DOZI for most of us.... COMFORT ZONES! Keep reading to see what we will be doing this weekend (yes, only a weekend, lol)

This Week's Challenge:

Change The World Wednesday (#CTWW) - Comfort Zones
Are you comfortable
with green living ideas?
When it comes to green living, we all have our comfort zones. And that's fine because every effort that we make contributes to a better world.

But sometimes, stepping out of our comfort zone helps us learn something new ... it pushes us to reach new environmental heights.

Here's your challenge ...

This week, step out of your comfort zone and try something new. Need some ideas?
  • Turn off your heat or A/C for a day.
  • Experience life without a refrigerator for a day (or a week) by refusing to open/use yours.
  • Turn off the computer for a day.
  • Go grocery shopping and only buy organic.
  • Skip taking a bath for at least one more day than you normally would.
  • Eat raw, vegan food for day or longer.
The idea, this week, is to force ourselves out of our comfort zones and try something which we've hesitated to try in the past. Who knows, it could open us up to a whole new world.
Are you ready to change the world? I know that you are!

Until next time ...

WE'RE CHANGING THE WORLD ... ONE CHALLENGE AT A TIME!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My comfort zone....
 I hate the heat!! I got that from my father. A/C turned all the way up, drinks with lots of ice and no sweating! It's against the rules.... so this weekend (yes, only the weekend) we will turn off our A/C! And let me remind ya'll that we live in deep south Texas, where we only have like one week of winter, lol. Today we had the homecoming parade and it was like 90, so yeah. This is going to def be a challenge.
Wish us luck!
What are you too comfortable with? Laptop? Comfort food? Being clean? Try going with out for a day, weekend or a whole week. My husband i excited to see how big of an impact it has on our electric bill. I'll share the results next month and maybe i'll share on my Youtube Channel, so be sure to subscribe.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1
Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!
Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
