I have had a craving for homemade italian style pizza and I remembered about Formacio Pizzeria in Mercedes, so I thought I'd share with you for todays Thursday Night Special!
I featured them in a Sunday in My City this past summer, it was the first time we went and it was AH-MAZING! So I wanted to do a short review for ya'll.
Formacio Pizzeria is in Mercedes, Texas and they just celebrated their two year anniversary and offered a Free slice of pizza for customers, how nice, right?!
When we visited we actually had no idea where we were going. So we got on Facebook and tried to see where they were located. Google maps sucks, lol. We finally found it, thanks to me! We weren't too sure about if we should eat there cus the landscape, well, there was no landscape, it looked really small. But while we were getting off like 5 cars had come and gone, so we thought it would be okay.
We had never been there, so we had no idea what to expect. We actually heard about this place from my mom. She didn't tell us any info, just that it's really good, lol. So we walked in and first thing you see is where they make the pizzas and some extra chairs, for waiting, and the cooler for drinks.
We weren't sure if we had to order first or not, so we just followed the lead. I went to go sit down, it was bigger than it looked, and daddy stayed with the girls to see, what we assume was the owner, flip some pizzas in the air. They enjoyed that. While daddy was looking, I ordered our drinks with the waitress and she brought some paper plates (which is a bit disappointing) and handed us paper menus.
We ordered an order of garlic nots (8/$1) which arrived minutes later, but were tiny than I imagined. They made up for their size in taste, freshness and affordability! Hubby saw the table next to us order wings, so he called the waitress over and he ordered some. Again, they arrived so fast, spicy and came celery and ranch sauce. ! It was nice that the drinks were in cans and that we could choose which we wanted from the cooler or opt for fountain drinks from the dispenser.
Check out the pizza! We ordered a surpreme pizza, I don't remember the size, check out their website to see the menu, I think we got an Extra Large! Perfect size. If we hadn't ordered appetizers, we would have finished the pizza. We took two slices home. To get a perspective of the size of the pizza, look at Yvettes slice below! Holy cow!
As far as taste and freshness, Formacio Pizzeria gets 5 stars! The crust was crispy, the cheese was melted and flavor was right on. The girls loved the pizza too, they even at all their veggies too! The staff was friendly and did have to call them over a few times, but it was a full house, dinner rush hour on a Saturday night.
Check out their Facebook page and let them know you saw them on The Mami Blog! For more information also see their website. So if you are ever in the need for some freshly made pizza at a great price, check out Formacio Pizzeria!
