Making Memories: Labor Day

Labor day was filled with NO WORK! For the exception of the regular mommy duties, of making sure kids were clean, fed and changed, which is enough work for the day, lol. If you watched my Zero Waste Week intro video on my Youtube Channel, you know that my sister was in town. That's always fun. She only lives 4 hours north of us, but we see her maybe twice a year! Only sad part was that my mom had to work on Labor Day (as did hubby and Yvette went to school too). My grandma invited us for a day out, breakfast and shopping!

We started by taking Yvette lunch, cus mama kind of slept in, so I didn't make it for her in the AM. So I boiled some water and made her a mac n cheese veggie mix with crackers and some fruit. Oh and a granola bar for dessert. We all (my sister included) headed over to her new school to drop it off. We were lucky to get a new secretary, but she did get her lunch.

Grandma was calling as we left the school cus she was hungry! We drove to two places and they were both closed. We were surprised to see that Shoney's was permanently closed! So sad, we won't be able to enjoy Free strawberry shortcakes on Mother's Day and discounted hamburgers and not to mention their great buffet! We ended up at Golden Corral. I'm not a big fan of this place, but did love that we were able to fresh made-to-order omelets. The girls loved the fresh fruit.
CHEESE EVERYONE!

Next was shopping! We headed over to JcPenney, it was Annaleah's nap time was just around the corner so I used my Inda-Jani woven wrap and she was literally out within minutes! I'm glad she wasn't running around everywhere, cus the store was empty.
We tried on a few things. I was looking for a Sunday/Thanksgiving dress (yes, I shop early) and some tshirts of Eliada. Check out what I found on clearance! This georgous dress! Retail was $70 and it was on clearance for $25 + all clearance was an additional 30% off and I had a coupon for an additional 25% off! Woot! Thanks to my sister for paying the bill.

Look at this stud muffin in her black leather jacket. She loved it, but it was a $50 jacket. Eeesh, a little too much for Texas heat, don't ya think. She was sad, so I'm gonna be on the look out for one after the holidays.

We ended the evening eating out at Wendy's, I had a $2 coupon for a salad and after 4pm they have kid meals for $1.99 + family game night, we played a few games and the girls hit the hay after taking a bath.  Yeah, took a selfie in the bathroom. New #babywearing mom-style, right?! I think it's a great look.

Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!

Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
