March Against Monsanto in the #RGV!!

https://www.facebook.com/events/275141126006863/

I'm getting more and more nervous!! This coming Saturday is the March Against Monsanto!!

First you should read who Monsanto is and what they do. If you google them you will probably find articles about why they are the most hated company in the WORLD! Yes, World! Check out this website for more info: WhoisMonsanto.
Okay, did you read up on Monsanto? If so, then the next thing you would want to do is know what a GMO is. Obviously, it stands for Genetically Modified Organism. Again, just google GMO's and you will find so much information from stories about links to diseases and even stories from moms who's children were allergic to many foods were "cured" by going GMO-Free. Click the photo for more information. A lot of pro-GMO's will tell you that there is no proof and that there are many studies out there that show GMO's are completley safe. I mean, why would they be approved by the FDA if they weren't safe, right! Well, the problem is that the studies are conducted by the same corporations that created them and profit from their sale.  Increasingly, Americans are taking matters into their own hands and choosing to opt out of the GMO experiment.

Okay, so now that you know who we are marching against and why find a local march near you! You can go to MarchAgainstMonsanto.com to read up more about this group, check out their Facebook page for more information about GMO's and Monsanto.

https://www.facebook.com/events/275141126006863/ There have been so much of in increase of awareness and education and well-known Dr's and Scientists have said that we are in a major turning point! "UN CONFERENCE CALLS FOR 'PARADIGM SHIFT' IN AGRICULTURE" and that says a whole lot! You can follow mainstream bloggers like Leah from Mamavation (putting together Shift-Con later this year) and Vani the Food Babe as well as Zen from Moms Across America (join a march in your city's 4th of July Parade!!) to lean the latest. They are always posting actions that we can take as moms, parents and grandparents to keep the wheel turning!

HISTORY of GMO's in the #RGV! I took the bull by the horns back in June and learned about Moms Across America and signed up to march in the City of McAllen and tried to promote that like crazy. I had a total of 8 marchers in the parade! We had lots of exposure and then I created a Facebook page. Then in October for the #MAM we had almost 30 marchers in our group!! Woohoo! So please share this event (even if you are not in the area) as well as the link for all the events (you can find that at the #MAM facebook page)

Change you Facebook profile to the pic below. Even if you aren't marching, changing your profile will catch the attention of family and friends! Start a conversation! You can go to MomsAcrossAmerica.com and click on Products, there are "Grocery Notes" that you can print and hand to your supermarket manager to let them know that you are interested in non-GMO and/or Oragnics! Most stores also will make special orders and if that special order sells out fast, they may continue to carry the products!

  1. I get so much criticism for not wanting to just eat GMO filled foods and save money with groceries. People don't realize they have more power than they think...if we all boycott....organic and GMO will become cheaper over time and coupons will be for those items...

I know it's more expensive, but the only way to change is to all stick together.

Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!

Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
