It's a GO! World Food Day! #MAM

It started with just 8 people walking in our Moms Across America March during the McAllen 85th Annual Independence Day Parade. Now I am joining March Against Monsanto (and MAAM) to celebrate World Food Day! After MAAM I created an educational facebook page, GMO-Free RGV. RGV being the area where I live, the Rio Grande Valley (deep south Texas). The awareness of GMO's is very minimal and the people, including my family are in desperate need of awareness. Our culture is 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation migrants from Mexico and I would say 80% of the families know someone who use to or still does migrate to the Northern regions to pick produce in the fields. They come in direct contact with the dangerous chemicals that are sprayed. Watch my Monsanto Video Revolt Video to see my concerns.

Now comes World Food Day! It is celebrated all around the world on October 16th! There are many organizations that are celebrating and putting together event all around the world! Check out last weeks video about educating yourself; I have tons of links to where you can find local events near you. Since it lands during the weekday #MAM is celebrating it on Saturday, October 12th, as am I. You can join and share the event HERE.

First things first.... promoting the event! Below is the official flyer! You can DOWNLOAD it, share it on your favorite social media sites or print a few and ask to post them in public places. When the public sees it they will go to the website and find our event! Ta-da!

If we could just double the amount of people that show up, I would be happy! So, the details of the event....

When: Saturday, October 12, 2013
Where: Parking Lot, in front of IMAS (Nolana and Bicentennial)
Time: 10am
Ending at the Market @ McAllen

Once the march is over feel free to stay for the Fooducation Movie Series. Movie starts at 1pm! Thank you for your support! Feel free to join and share the facebook event and we are still looking for sponsors to print out flyers to share before and after the event as well as bottled water for our marchers. Email me for more information.

Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!

Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
