Green Tip Tuesday - Choose Carton

Happy Tuesday! How are you doing this year on being green? I was thinking about this earlier this week and talking to my husband about how "Living Simple" isn't on the top of priorities list much these days, especailly when considering a New Years Resolution. And then we starting thinking, why does it have to be in the beginning of the year, well, yeah, we get the whole "starting over" thing, but how about ANYTIME?! Sometimes we have those bad days, or days where we just feel like we want to hit the re-wind button and start over. GO AHEAD!

Evergreen packaging shared with me their "Go Green at the Grocery Store" contest and I figured it would be a great time to share it if anyone is wanting to get some ideas on how they could do their part at the grocery store.

So, you can start living green today by making simple choices at the grocery store.

You can learn more about Choose Cartons on their website. You can see the story of a carton, share it, find where you can recycle your cartons in your area and check out the great crafts made with cartons. Teaching our children about sustainability and recycling is not just educational but FUN! Here are some ideas you can do with your cartons at home.
  1. Make a Boat and all other sorts of floaties
  2. Use as a gift box
  3. Pencil holder
  4. Mini Mail box/Allowance box
  5. Birdhouse

Have you ever made something out of a carton? Think about egg cartons too! I just pinned a beautiful flower wreath on Pinterest and it was made out of the egg holders of the egg carton! Can you believe that they are making them out of plastic now too. Where does it end?

But anywho, really.... go and enter the contest, what do ya got to lose?

Don't forget your reusable bags and milk 'carton' next time you go to the grocery store!

  3. You can make bird feeders out of the milk cartons too. People stop feeding birds in the early spring but forget that there's not food for them yet.

Ungrateful during Thanksgiving?

Hubby made me cry on Thanksgiving.... The usual share what you're thankful for, he just went all out talking about how we had one of the toughest years and we were apart from each other for six months and how much he missed us and it just sucked. Ohhhh, the waterfalls!! But yeah, it was the longest year ever. Speaking of Thanksgiving.... HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Reminds me of something that's been on my mind....

We just moved out of the valley and guess what?! The worst part moving to a new place was not the moving. Before we moved I scoped out our neighborhood, grocery stores, parks and I joined several mom groups. I knew negative Nancy’s were bound to share their troubles in Facebook groups but I’ve never heard so many complaints in one day.
