2012 RGV Halloween Events

 Hello readers! Cinella here and I've gotten together a few events that were shared with me and I also got some from the newspaper as well. We still have no idea what we are going to to for halloween and i'm still waiting on Annaleah's costume! Thanks to Melissa and Barbara for putting the costume together for me and putting my ideas to work! Can't wait to see how the girls look!

So, if you still don't know what you're going to do here is a HUGE list of all of the events going on in the RGV!

Spooktacular Halloween in the Park, free, open to public, food, music, games, activities, trick or treat booths, entertainment, 6-9 p.m., Rangerville Park.

Laguna Vista
Fall Festival, 4-8 p.m., trick or treat, annual chili cook off, games, bounce house, food, fun, music, costumes, face painting. Christ Harbor Church, 1441 Santa Isabel Blvd. Free.

Fright Nite 5K, Palm View Golf Course, 2701 S. Ware Road. Race starts at 7:30 p.m., after-race party until 11 p.m. Halloween themed night run, $30 day of registration, $20 advance. Register at www.mcallen.net/parks

Dress up the little ones and go to the Halloween Festival at the Municipal Park and Pool, 1921 N. Bicentennial Blvd., where the youngsters will get to take a canoe ride in the haunted pool, play games and go through a haunted house. Admission is free, with a $1 cost for the haunted house, haunted pool and costume contest.

Old City Cemetery Annual Murder, Mayhem & Scandal Cemetery Walking Tours at 6, 7 and 8 p.m. Hear the tales, scandals, mysteries, misfortunes of those buried here. Space limited, aregistration at Old City Cemetery Center, 600 E. Jackson

The Brownsville Historical Association, Brownsville Urban System, and City of Brownsville Heritage Department invite the public to the second annual Brownsville Haunted History Bus Route. The 2nd Annual Haunted History Bus Routes are scheduled for Monday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m., with repeat routes on Tuesday, Oct. 30. Cost for bus routes are $10 per person. Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis

The family-friendly event will include haunted pool canoe rides, arts and crafts, a haunted house, games, music, a costume contest, candy and prizes.
"This year we decided to combine the events at all our community centers into one big event," said McAllen Parks and Recreation Marketing Coordinator Leslie Howland. "This is a safe opportunity for families to celebrate together."
Howland said last year's haunted pool earned statewide recognition for Best Special Event by the Texas Public Pool Council.

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces.
