Neon Tiki Tribe Party - Review

Good Afternoon Mami's! I am so tired! My girls and I just had a fun little party with some of their friends. They all came over after school and I made them a little snack, chicken and waffles! I had all of the goodies out on a table and two gift bags and they started asking questions, like 8 year olds do. So I told them that we were going to read some books and that they all had to pay attention because there was going to be a prize after the party to see who listened to the story.

I received  my Mommy Parties package from MommyParties a few weeks ago. The package was for our Neon Tiki Tribe Party. It came with each book in the series, posters, reading glasses and t-shirts to! What is Neon Tiki Tribe?
The Neon Tiki Tribe is a team of super-positive super-heroes featured in this all-new book series. Showcasing rich colors, moral stories, and a font created to help the nearly 1 in 10 kids with dyslexic symptoms, these books all have a moral story and serve as great conversation starters with parents, grandparents, and care-givers.
So yeah, Neon Tiki Tribe is a book series! And a great one at that. My 8 year old has been having trouble in her reading class because she is not focus. She's not interested in what they are reading. The other day she was reading from her school book and it was about Hellen Keller. That is a great story, but it didn't get her attention because when I asked her what the story was about, she couldn't even remember her name.

So, during the party we read every book! I read one book and my hubby read one book and the last book we each gave the kids a page to read! Their favorite book was Book 2: Dog Rescue Mission...
A dog is missing! The Neon Tiki Tribe help a neighborhood boy, upset that he lost his dog, and even more upset that he lied to his parents about how the dog went missing. Using special shades the Neon Tiki Tribe hunt down the pup. What they find isn’t just the dog – but some trouble – in the evil Ku Tiki Tribe! “Dog Rescue Mission” teaches kids about the importance of honesty and the courage of telling the truth.
I'd have to say that that one was our favorite too! My girls are 3 1/2 and 8 years old. At those ages it's a critical age when kids should learn about HONESTY and the consequences that come with not telling the truth. And COURAGE, that is a big subject with my girls. My oldest is not very courageous, but our 3 year old could probably leap from buildings.

Neon Tiki Tribe isn't just any book. I love how all the kids sit and listened to each book during the party. We then played a few games that I made up to see if they were listening and learned while reading the books to them. I do this daily with my 8 year old and if your child has trouble with comprehension you can try this too.

It's called "Forgetful Phillis". It's something I made up. I pretend to be Phillis and that I'm forgetful. So after reading through the book "Forgetful Phillis re-reads the book. I don't read the whole book, just the main parts. I start reading and when the "important" facts in the story come up I stop reading and see if she remembers. And it works great! All the kids shouted out the answers.

The party was a blast. At the end of the party every guest got a book of their choice, poster, and their awesome glasses! Two lucky guests walked away with their own shirts.

You can read more about Neon Tiki Tribe on their website or follow them on their social media pages. You can also buy the items that came in our party kit HERE. You can also check out the video below with your kids, they'll love it (without a SPONGE)! lol

Ungrateful during Thanksgiving?

Hubby made me cry on Thanksgiving.... The usual share what you're thankful for, he just went all out talking about how we had one of the toughest years and we were apart from each other for six months and how much he missed us and it just sucked. Ohhhh, the waterfalls!! But yeah, it was the longest year ever. Speaking of Thanksgiving.... HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Reminds me of something that's been on my mind....

We just moved out of the valley and guess what?! The worst part moving to a new place was not the moving. Before we moved I scoped out our neighborhood, grocery stores, parks and I joined several mom groups. I knew negative Nancy’s were bound to share their troubles in Facebook groups but I’ve never heard so many complaints in one day.

I don’t know what it is but I don’t like when people complain. I just think to myself, “Did you really have to share that?” or about an easy solution to that complaint. There would have been a better way to spend your time than writing a n…
