Summer Blog Challenge - Day 4 - Meaning?

Meaning behind your blog name.

This is an easy one...  Lets go back in time a little bit. I started blogging (privately) about 5 years ago. And just had it named "The Mommy Blog" and it was just a journal about my pregnancy and being a mommy. Then I was going to be a mommy for the second time and after having a difficult birth and a hard time financially I thought I would share my story and that's when I went public and created a "Live" blog. It was stilled called "The Mommy Blog" and I called it that because that's just what it was. A blog for myself and for other moms to read my stories. Of course with copyright and all that legal stuff I had to change it about a year ago because there was another big main stream blog that had the same name and that's when I changed it to "The Mami Blog."

The Mami Blog adds a bit more personality and story behind my blog. It actually means two different things....  "Me and My ideas" and it also bring my background into the name. I'm hispanic and the word Mommy is Spanish is Mami, which is actually pronounced the same way! Hubs always says that I have so many ideas that I just need to cut my list in like tiny little pieces and just do those instead of trying to do them all at the same time. So he says "You and you're ideas!" So those two "meanings" just blended together to create "The Mami Blog" and it didn't confuse my readers much and this is actually the first time I share BOTH meanings of the name behind my blog.

What do you think?!

  1. I think this is really nice and self explanatory. I like how you kept a journal of your pregnancy and becoming a mom. I wish I had thought of that when I was having my first. What I did do was a collection of poems about things he did.
Following you from the hop, I hope you can follow back.

Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!

Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
