*Closed* Milk Time! 8th Continent Review & Giveaway

Who doesn't love milk? I know I do and if I could I would drink milk every morning.... maybe with a peanut butter sandwich or some slices of bananas and cereal. YUM! And especially now that I'm pregnant I crave it during the morning.

During my last pregnancy and this one (now 23 weeks) I was diagnosed with Gestation Diabetes. With the first pregnancy my dietitian said I could only have about 1 cup of milk on occasion, but definitely not every day! But now I can!

I was approached to do a review & giveaway from 8th Continent Soy Milk. I had never looking into soy milk. I did buy some, for my mother, because she's lactose intolerant. Anywho, so I looked into the brand, the different varieties and the nutritional information. I said yes and went ahead and bought our first carton!

We tried it as a family on Saturday morning. Of course, at first it doesn't taste like milk. (I know, I should have taken a picture). Then we tried the vanilla and the girls just fell in love with it. Now the girls will easily pick 8th Continent over cows milk when we go to the store and drink it with everything. We even made macaroni with cheese (Annie's Macaroni) and it was delish, no difference. You can check out more recipes on their website HERE.

But back to my diabetes! I just love that I can drink 8th Continent Soy Milk because it has almost half of the carbs which is great for my sugar! I can now drink one cup a day (got the okay from my dietician). Of course, I don't, but I almost do!

Here is some info from their website about their soy milk:
With just the right amount of sweetness, 8th Continent Original is the perfect choice on breakfast cereal or as a milk substitute in your favorite recipe.

  • 8 Grams of soy protein
  • Excellent source of calcium
  • Made from U.S. grown soybeans that have not been genetically engineered (non-GMO)
  • May reduce the risk of heart disease* and high blood pressure and stroke**
  • Certified by the American Heart Association

Don't you just love the cute designs on the milk. My girls actually colored all over the carton and made it even prettier! The designs were made by Ben Javens. You can read more information about the project HERE. He also designed their website to, which if you haven't visited is so cute (pic above)!

You can check out the different varieties on their website and even print out your own coupons! Don't want some coupons? Well, how about follow them on Pinterest! They have some great boards, even one on Mother's Day if you feel like getting crafty. I know those are always the best gifts that you keep FOREVER!

Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!

Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
