RGV Food Bank - Grand Opening -

After nearly 30 years,
the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley,
which began as a food pantry in 1983,
will be back in its hometown again.

If you follow Ruby on facebook you know what is coming up this week. It's great news for the whole valley!! The Food Bank will be and has been remodeling the Valley Fruit Company for the past several weeks and getting ready for years to move the northern center to this more centralized location in Pharr, Texas.

So excited to see everything that is planned for this huge location. If you have no plans in the mid-week, feel free to stop by during their grand opening. I will be there checking it out, so say hi if you see me! I was thinking of throwing an idea their way.... if you saw the past few weeks of that popular couponing show on TLC, they did some shopper to shopper competitions, but donated all the food they good to their local food bank. I think it would be awesome to do the same thing here to celebrate the opening of the new location. If anyone at the RGV Food Bank thinks its a good idea let me know. I probably wouldn't participate because I'm going on 4 month with this baby, but would love to organize and see how we can do this, maybe make it a annual tradition. What do you think?

Check out the local newspaper website for more information HERE. Like them on Facebook and say I sent ya to see all of the pics I know they will be sharing and you can also see some pics from the past few months.

Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!

Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
