Green Tip Tuesday - Saving Up

Today I wanted to talk about something that most of us go through every year.... Power Outages, No or low water flow and more. What do you do and are ya'll trully ready when natural disasters happen? Well, there is a way that you can prepare with out spending a DIME! Well, for certain items that is.

I wanted to let ya'll know how to prepare your own water storage/back-up. It will be a short post because it's just that simple & easy to do.

Who buys the 48-59oz jugs of juice?? Well, instead of throwing them away or recycling them, just rinse them out and poor a bit of soap in there and wash/rinse it out and fill it up with either filtered water (if you are going to use the water to drink) or tap water (if you will be using it to take a bath). Ideally, you would want both kinds of jugs filled. Be sure it is a food grade plastic or better yet, BPA FREE jugs! And if you have the 5 gallon jugs of water those would be great to! You would also need about 5-10 gallons per person, but that would be about 10 orange juice jugs per person! But you really only need about 2 gallons to take a bath and to wash clothes. So just figure out how much you would really need for everyone in your family per day. It is rare to go weeks without a clean water supply, so prepare appropriately!

So now, you don't have to rush to the grocery store like everyone else when a hurricane is in the near furutre and you are saving tons of money. With us living in Texas and prone to Hurricanes during the fall/winter season I would start saving jugs every January (buying about 2-4 orange juice jugs a month or so), and then start cleaning them out and wash them again during the summer, and then start filling them up in July/August. You would save each jug for about 3-4 months and then throw out the water for safety reasons.

Now i hope you can prepare for the next natural disaster that may happen near you.

Ungrateful during Thanksgiving?

Hubby made me cry on Thanksgiving.... The usual share what you're thankful for, he just went all out talking about how we had one of the toughest years and we were apart from each other for six months and how much he missed us and it just sucked. Ohhhh, the waterfalls!! But yeah, it was the longest year ever. Speaking of Thanksgiving.... HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Reminds me of something that's been on my mind....

We just moved out of the valley and guess what?! The worst part moving to a new place was not the moving. Before we moved I scoped out our neighborhood, grocery stores, parks and I joined several mom groups. I knew negative Nancy’s were bound to share their troubles in Facebook groups but I’ve never heard so many complaints in one day.

I don’t know what it is but I don’t like when people complain. I just think to myself, “Did you really have to share that?” or about an easy solution to that complaint. There would have been a better way to spend your time than writing a n…
