Another thing people relate Texas to is Texas Oil.... Ever heard of the World Richest Acre?? Well, it is in East Texas, Kilgore to be exact, and in the 1930’s Columbus M. ”Dad” Joiner unknowingly tapped into the world’s largest pocket of oil. The resulting oil boom brought thousands into East Texas, and they turned quiet little communities in to raucous boom towns!
The East Texas Oil Museum showcases what life was like back when oil was all that mattered. This fascinating museum houses the authentic re-creation of oil discovery and production in the early 1930s from the largest oil field inside U.S. boundaries. This is where you can see the people, their towns, their personal habits, their tools and their pastimes – all colorfully depicted in dioramas, movies, sound presentations and actual antiques donated by East Texas citizens. When you step across the city limits and into Boomtown, USA, you will discover a full scale town full of stores, people, animals, and machinery depicting the lively activity of a town booming in oil.
The East Texas Oil Museum is providing (5) tickets to ONE lucky reader
and helping them step back in time and live in the 1930’s oil boom!

Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!

Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
