We live in TEXAS!!

FYI... 2 week break for Texas Summer Giveaway Bash... so I will be posting all about summer these two weeks and what us Texans do during the summer, besides having a blast at the beach! lol

This past week I went to check out Dollar General. Usually I only visit to pick up tape or maybe when they have a sale on soft drinks.

But since they started accepting Manufacture Coupons, I thought I'd check to see what kind of deals I could get, not to mention their Dollar General Rhythm and Race! You get points for purchasing specific products (labeled in store) and then get to redeem them for awesome prizes!

I also wanted to point out that in Texas we are always getting ready for sever weather.... Hurricanes! Dollar General has an awesome "Severe Weather Survival List" and it's an awesome list.... I keep it in my coupon binder and have checked off items that I have stocked up for Hurricane Season! Wal-Mart also had some booklets that had lots of information along with products that can help you prepare.

Here are some of my favorites on the list because we always NEED/forget them.....
  1. Extra baby wipes! (when the water gets shut down)
  2. Corded phone with a long phone wire
  3. Wooden (eco-friendly) cutlery (or plastic)
  4. Finger Splint
  5. Trash bags that smell good!
  6. Deodorant
Luckily this year the only thing we need to stock up on is trash bags and baby wipes. Using coupons year round has helped us save money so that we don't have to spend it later when the prices are higher. Be sure to have these Important Numbers hand as well.
Important numbers:
FEMA: 1-800-621-FEMA
American Red Cross: 1-866-GET-INFO
National Weather Service: 1-850-942-8833

Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!

Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
