Sunday is Coupon Day - Q&A with Mr. Coupon

As you know Nathan aka Mr. Coupon was on the show Extreme Couponing on TLC and wow! What an awesome savings. Of course, this may not be everyone's desire to use coupons. But for him, he loves it and can't beat getting a great deal. Also, Mr. Coupon also runs! If you follow me on Twitter you know I post a few deals on there! I'm dozing off so I'll make this a quick post. I was contacted by Nathan to bust any myths or shed some light on this show. I myself just take the tips, I don't think I'd ever shop like that. But here are the questions I asked Nathan:
  1. DO you believe in.... "NEVER PAY RETAIL?"
I believe in this: “*TRY* Never to pay retail”  Sometimes it’s impossible to not pay retail.  Spurge a little.  BUT my goal is to TRY never to pay retail!!
  1. How do I suggest I get my local grocery stores to double/triple coupon? None of my local stores do this! I have only had two transactions that were FREE!
Many of the couponers on the show have stores that don’t double.  It can be a little more difficult to save!  Call your stores customer service number!  See if they would listen!
  1. What are your favorite stockpiling items?
Items that don’t expire are my favorite because I never have to worry about checking their expiration date!  Shampoo, toilet paper things like that!
  1. How much did you pay for your shelving?
I made them myself.  I went to Home Depot, got 2 by 4’s, plywood and nails.  They cost around $25.
  1. Do you brush your teeth?
LOL a lot!  I have enough toothpaste right!?  Actually truth be told the ‘toothpaste wall’ was almost entirely donated to Operation TroopAid!!

I totally agree with your mom is "Phenomenal in Math!" I always have to use a calculator and have to double check everything twice! I still use my fingers too! Today proves that I ain't that good at math. Hubs had to add it twice to make sure everything was correct and I saved about 68% today at Target!

Thanks to Mr. Coupon and other couponing bloggers they have helped me save so much over these past few months.
Good night!

Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!

Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
