Book Review - Home-Ec 101

Being a Mommy it's kinda the norm to collect cook books or how-to books. I know it isn't for all... but for me, it is! Last week at Vets' Book Fair I almost bought all of the cookbooks they had, but that's not my thing to just buy something just like that. But oh my, I was sooo tempted. So when I saw this project at One2One Network I just had to join in.

We were sent a few pages plus all of Chapter 20 to look over. I must have read it like 5 times and wanted to share it with ya'll right away. I know I got a good book when the first line makes me smile or even better when it makes me laugh.

The first line of Chapter "20. Meal Planning: Not Just for Control Freaks" got me right away because... well, I menu plan and definitely not a Control Freak! But, again, the first line is....
"The 5:30 stare, we've all done it."
Hilarious right! I know there are days like that even though I do menu plan. For example, snack time. But this book is not just for well-trained Mommies like me, which I'm far from, but it's for those like ALL MY COUSINS! Oh gosh, I feel so old. I'm the oldest, the only one married with kids. So after I read and learned more about the book, I shared it with them. They all grew up in good homes like me, just a little crazy, but they all know how to boil an egg, or so they say. But it's a definite must for anyone who is a little iffy on that subject.
This book makes the perfect gift for college students, newly weds and even your grandmother! Yes, your grandmother. Why? You ask? Because it's full of more than just how to boil water. It also has recipes, tips, charts and some of their favorite cleaning tips that I'm sure she'd love to have. The book relates to EVERYONE!

It has the same feel of her blog. Haven't been? Head on over to Home-Ec101.com and check it out! I just love her version of "Dear Abby," she turned it into... "Dear Home-Ec 101,"
Also, you can reach her on Twitter & Facebook as well. Say Hi, ask her a question, or just tell her Cinella from The Mommy Blog sent ya!

Now where can you get this book? It's available at Amazon.com as well as Barnes & Noble for about $15.

Ohhh, just got an idea.... Mother's Day! That's been going through my head a lot lately. If you've been keeping up with my blog, you'll agree!
As always - Disclosure:
I received a portion of this book to review from One2OneNetwork.com and was also entered to win a gift card. All thought of this book are my own, I really did read it like 5 times and considering buying it not only for my mom, but for me to!

Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!

Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
