It is a great way to meet other bloggers of toddlers. Each week the topic will be different; we invite you to link up, share your weekly Toddler Talk!!

This week’s topic is :

What items make up your toddler’s toy box that aren’t really toys?

Oh boy, this is a great topic. I was just talking about this with my aunt. She was asking me last week what she should buy Eli for her birthday. She asked, "what about a toy?" I smirked and said, "If you want, but she'd be more happy with the box it comes in!" She laughed.

But seriously. I get a package about every week and the stands next to me as I open it. She's ready to play with the box or the bubble wrap. Even when we visit a grocery store she wants to go home with those empty cardboard holders! Just last week she wanted a tuna cardboard box! lol Vetty to loves to bring them home too!

Other than that she loves pencils... I know it's dangerous, but I'm always with her, she loves to write.

Dishes, I think are always a favorite of any kids! She loves the lids! But it can get annoying, especially when she bangs them with a wooden spoon! BANG! BANG!

Best part.... I can honestly say I have not bought a toy for either of the girls in over a year! Really, not even in Christmas! ((I'm not saying they didn't get any gifts!)) And recently she's been wanting to help mommy in my motherly duties.... Laundry, Washing Dishes and Sweeping!

Suggested topic for next week: Toddler Birthday Parties (or invitee)

  1. Boxes have got to be THE classic "not a toy" toy for kids. I loved playing with them as a kid myself, and so do my kids now!

  2. I'd love to do your suggested topic next week!
My toddler's 2nd birthday is on Tuesday! :-D

  3. Wow not even Christmas! That's amazing! I have a toy buying compulsion! lol

  4. kleenex boxes seem to be a big hit around this house. I have saved a few and let the girls "hide" things in them for each other. It is hilarious.
And then empty bottles or jars that they can use in their kitchen are also big hits!

  5. It's so funny how much toddlers love boxes!

  6. It's too funny how much toddlers love boxes!
