Funny Story @ H-E-B

As I've said several times before my area is not very "Eco-Friendly," the people or the retailers. I'll make this quick since I have to get to Laundry (oh joy!).

Last night with H-E-B's new coupons and Ad coming out, I always try to make it out to just pick up their Ad. So it was pretty late when we went out last night and I decided to take advantage of some of the current deals they had (feminine products and chicken as well as some FREE's I had) I always place my coupons on top of the first product or hand them to the cashier so that they can look at them to make sure I have the products (I abolutely do not like when they have to come around to my cart to go through my bags looking for that item!) Anyways.... lol

I also placed my two reusable bags (Annie's & Bagnesia) on the belt. She had already scanned a few items when I rolled up to the cash register she grabbed the two bags and asked....

"Do you know how much these are?"
OMG! I was like, "What?" I told her that they were my bags. I did dish out a bit of sarcasm. I something like, "You know, to put groceries in." She was slightly embarrassed, but it seemed like she really didn't care. She continued scanning the items and then I paid. When I looked over to the shopping cart I saw ALL my groceries in PLASTIC bags! I turned to Hubs (who was looking at TV's with Eli a few feet away). and I said....
"Look Honey, they put the reusable bags in a plastic bag with the carrots!"
How hilarious is that?! The cashier did say sorry and she called over one of the baggers to say that "someone (it wasn't me), didn't use that girls bags." It was kinda hard to say if she said it sarcastically or with concern. But that's okay... I use my plastic bags to make plarn and for my bathroom trash can.

Shame on you H-E-B. I would be more than happy to offer a seminar or how-to on how to think like the customer, especially eco-conscious shoppers. They should be glad I'm not a total GREEN-FREAK (which there's nothing wrong with that)!

H-E-B..... comments?

  1. I always put my reusable bags on the belt before the groceries and they seem to get the hint. Oh, and I hand the coupons to the cashier after he/she scans all the items because believe me...those coupons will fall, get lost or get stuck in the belt! been there

  2. Hey, my name is Brad and I work with H-E-B. Sorry for this inconvenience! Our policy is of course to use the customer’s reusable bags they provide. If you would like to provide additional feedback about your store, please feel free to contact our customer service department at 1-800-432-3113.

  3. Thanks Brad, I will do that. But in my area, it's not close to being the Norm, so I'm not to worried or upset. Just like the title says... "Funny Story!"

Ungrateful during Thanksgiving?

Hubby made me cry on Thanksgiving.... The usual share what you're thankful for, he just went all out talking about how we had one of the toughest years and we were apart from each other for six months and how much he missed us and it just sucked. Ohhhh, the waterfalls!! But yeah, it was the longest year ever. Speaking of Thanksgiving.... HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Reminds me of something that's been on my mind....

We just moved out of the valley and guess what?! The worst part moving to a new place was not the moving. Before we moved I scoped out our neighborhood, grocery stores, parks and I joined several mom groups. I knew negative Nancy’s were bound to share their troubles in Facebook groups but I’ve never heard so many complaints in one day.

I don’t know what it is but I don’t like when people complain. I just think to myself, “Did you really have to share that?” or about an easy solution to that complaint. There would have been a better way to spend your time than writing a n…
