Homemaker Monday *Newbie*

The weather in my neck of the woods:
The average temp today was about 78! The sun was out most of the day and it was a bit windy as well.

Things that make me happy:
Fluffy mail!!

Book I'm reading:
Friendships for Grown-Ups by Lisa Welchel AND Dark Visions by L.J. Smith

What's on my TV today:
Don't know, haven't turned it on today

On the menu for dinner:
Sandwhiches... today was tiring

On my To Do List:

Laundry and wrapping gifts

New Recipe I tried or want to try soon:
Cookie Cupcakes

In the craft basket:
No time for crafting for the rest of the year, but next year I'm going to try to up-cycle some clothes.

Looking forward to this week:
Baking with the four generations of women!

Tips and Tricks:
This year I had no snow... bugs got into it last year. So I borrowed some plastic bags, had the girls crumble them up and layered them under my Christmas village.

My favorite blog post this week:
Don't mean to be selfish, but I shared my CD story @ The Small Town Mom, Saturday Stash

Blog Hopping (a new discovered blog you would like to share with the readers):
Green Blog Hop - Bring green bloggers together!

No words needed (favorite photo or picture, yours or others you want to share):
Check the date stamp! She is now 6 1/2

Lesson learned the past few days:

You just can't squeeze everything you want to do in one day!!

On my mind:
My husbands happiness! He's been a little down lately. Some family problems and waiting on some results for his uncle, may be terminal.

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses:

1 John 4:19: "We love because he first loved us"

This is my first post for Homemaker Monday.... this week I've just felt so homemaker-y, then I saw that Melissa from Frugal Creativity posted this awesome blog hop and decided to hop on! See what other homemaker mamas are up to by hopping on over to "Diary of a Stay at Home Mom."

Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!

Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
