Ahhh Turkey week! But why does turkey only get one day of glory?? When I was young my dad would have a two-week vacation that he could get anytime of the year. He'd usually take it right before summer or at the end of summer. We'd always make a week to get ready and prepare to cook ourselves a delicious turkey, sometimes ham. Anyways, I'd kept the tradition alive. Some time during the year I buy a turkey and bake a pie. I just thought I'd share that....
We actually have no idea what we'll be doing for this Thanksgiving. We were invited by my grandmother to her home, but we don't know what will be served, I was just asked to bring the dessert I was thinking of making some traditional brownies, maybe add walnuts. Then I plan on coming back home and playing the wii with the family. I also plan on bringing home any leftovers. Usually no one likes to take leftovers, but I love them.
Here's the menu for this week:
Monday - Ham sammies & potato salad
Tuesday - Breaded Italian chicken with scalloped potatoes
Wednesday - Egg salad sandwiches with steamed veggies
Thursday - Turkey Dinner
Friday - Leftovers (hopefully turkey pot-pie)
I looked through some of OrgJunkie.com website and saw some awesome meals that can be used with leftovers that we may have. My favorite is throwing all the veggies, turkey and gravy and topping it with a homemade crust for a delicious and flavorful pot pie!
