Green Tip Tuesday - The Holidays are Coming

Oh boy... are you as excited as I am?! I'm excited because we already got all our gifts and we hardly spend a penny and a lot of them are recycled, either bought second hand, made from recycled material and/or I will be making them with organic ingredients!

Here are my two girls last year.... (another green tip, make your own greeting cards!)

I'm also excited to announce another edition of Green Tip Tuesday, Holiday Edition. Starting next week we will be featuring other Green Bloggers and their Green Tips for the seasons. I wanted to start earlier but this month went by so fast. Seriously, I can't believe this week will already be DECEMBER!

For this week I wanted to tell you about a green tip I learned from my grandmother. It's something I do every year and my mother did as well. It's kinda like re-gifting but not really. We use old Christmas Greeting Cards as gift tags! We have never bought gift tags. I also have implemented cloth gift tags as a twist to the family tradition.

Just punch a hole and you're done. You can add a bow or buttons for an added personal touch. I usually let my girlies paint the back of the whole card a matching color first then cut, makes it a bit less messy! lol

So off I go to start wrapping, decorating and cutting for this year's holiday season. I hope you all have a terrific Green Tuesday! If you have a green tip to share with me and my readers don't hesitate to share it with us. Just click on the Contact button on the top of my blog, just scroll all the way down!

  1. We do that too! I actually just picked up the craft knife that you slip your finger through so that you can just "point & cut" (don't know what ts called). Now I can cut the details out of the cards to make tags. I used to just use a tiny sewing scissor or a standard craft knife and it would take me forever!

I'm now following you through the Green Blog Hop. I hope you'll do the same! You can find me @

Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!

Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
