GTT - Costume Swap This Year!

Don't know about you, but Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and can be fairly expensive for the traditional family. Well... we are far from traditional. Last year was the first year that we actually bought a costume for my now 6 year old daughter. Good thing was we didn't buy it new, we bought it at our local Children's Orchard (I love that store). It's a second hand store and I bought the costume for only $5! In other years we just made our costume. With children and adults it's fairly easy to make a costume. But when they get into the "I care (only about me)" stage it can get pretty expensive to even make your own costume. I remember one year my sister wanted to be sponge bob. It was a great idea and my mom spent hours making her the "sponge" portion of "bob." Another year she was Tweety bird. These costumes were both made from paper mache, again, time consuming.

Anywho, this year now we are officially four in the family and we will be dressing as the Scooby Doo Gang! We bouth most of our peices from the Salvation Army and the rest we just used clothes we had. Hubby got the actual old brown pants from his uncle!

For my tip for this week (after a leave of absense) I wanted to share this website: Costume Swap Day. It was October 9th, but you can still do it! I'm sure we all have a stash of costumes that we buy every year and then never use again. Well, I'm sure someone has the costume you're looking for. Well, be Green and swap. Does there have to be a monetary exchange, no, not really. I mean you already paid for the one you have now, if anything you should pay the person who wants your costume, lol.

Last year, like I mentioned we bought our 6 year old her costume, she wanted to be Super Girl, so the whole family was "Supers." I will be donating the costume to our local church for a little girl who wishes to be "Super."

So this week, donate, give, offer and be green by swapping your "only used once" costume to a friend or family member!

Ungrateful during Thanksgiving?

Hubby made me cry on Thanksgiving.... The usual share what you're thankful for, he just went all out talking about how we had one of the toughest years and we were apart from each other for six months and how much he missed us and it just sucked. Ohhhh, the waterfalls!! But yeah, it was the longest year ever. Speaking of Thanksgiving.... HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Reminds me of something that's been on my mind....

We just moved out of the valley and guess what?! The worst part moving to a new place was not the moving. Before we moved I scoped out our neighborhood, grocery stores, parks and I joined several mom groups. I knew negative Nancy’s were bound to share their troubles in Facebook groups but I’ve never heard so many complaints in one day.

I don’t know what it is but I don’t like when people complain. I just think to myself, “Did you really have to share that?” or about an easy solution to that complaint. There would have been a better way to spend your time than writing a n…
