Know the Organic Code
At a first glance, it may be difficult to tell organic produce from its nonorganic counterpart. The trick is to know what to look for. The easiest and most obvious sign that produce is organic is the presence of the USDA organic seal. You can also tell if produce is organic or not by looking at its PLU (price look-up) code. Typically appearing on a sticker or a tag, the PLU for organic produce is 5 digits long and begins with the number “9.” If the PLU does not fit this description, the produce you are looking at is non-organic. Know the code: it’s worth it!
Thanks! Now I know the number for when we go grocery shopping for school, starting MONDAY! OOhhh, so excited! Hope everyone has a smooth transition into the new school year.
