Vote for Pharr: Community Theater Grant

Hello RGV People!

I got an email this week from a lady in Pharr who is trying to get votes so that the city of Pharr has a Community Theater. There is a contest going on and we are in the running for a $50,000 grant from PEPSI. There are many communities, schools, church's that have their submissions and whoever gets the most votes (in each category) wins the monies.

The community theater will not be just for residents of Pharr. I read that it will be open for rent and to host festivals and what not that would be open to all people of the valley.

I already voted and it would be nice to see our town, Pharr, win this money.

Here is what the Email stated:

The Pharr Literacy Project and Cultural Arts Center has been approved for our grant proposal submission
To Pepsi Cola Foundation for renovation of a small community theater in our PLP site at 205 W. Park Ave. in Pharr.
Our proposal is for $50,000 to make this room into a small performing arts theater for the Pharr community
to enjoy plays, festivals and other cultural arts opportunities.
The projects that win will be the ones who receive the most votes.
We are asking your help for PLP.
