So, I only breastfed for three months, so I've been formula feeding since then. I am a recycle freak but I've kept a few of those formula canisters. I first used them for my 5 year olds' birthday. She had a art party. So I used them and covered them with construction paper and painted paint drippings and filled each of them with different colored tissue paper. It was so fun.... I'll find a picture to show them to you.
I got a letter from the teacher this week saying that Yvette's pencil/crayon box broke and to send a new one ASAP. I really didn't want to go out and make new one... so I grabed a few formula canisters and did some trial runs to see if I could turn them into a pencil/crayon box. I did it. I put a old coaster on the bottom of the can and covered the outside with felt and used another coster for the top. My five year old helped me make a few more... we have some birthdays coming up. She glued some foam hearts and flowers on them and they look adorable.
So for my green tip is to recycle something that you can re-purpose and use it or give it as a gift.
Here are some more ideas:
Use rusted or old forks to make unique magnets (use fabric and ribbon to decorate)
Turn cereal boxes into a new magazine holder or book end (wrap in scrap fabric)
Use glass jars to send a beautiful bouquet of flowers (decorate with paint)
