A Time to Give - Pets need love too

Welcome back to A Time to Give, my weekly feature where we share ways to give, ways to share, ways to be generous. If this is your first time stopping by, welcome! You can read the original A Time to Give post HERE. In a nutshell, I started this feature as a way for us to inspire each other to be even more generous. I tend to get wrapped up in finding great deals, and I don't want to lose sight of one of the reasons we live frugally... to be able to give more. Each week I'll share a giving idea of mine, and you share a giving idea of yours.

This week has been a busy week for me and latley every week has been busy. Besides my family missing me, there is someone else who holds a special place in my heart. My beautiful dog Dezi! We've had her for almost four years now! She's a beagle and both my girls love her to death. Hubby, not so much. Nah, he does to. He just doesn't like to wake up early to take her out. For the past two weeks I've been waking up super early to go to work or job interviews. I've been taking her out and fillilng her water bowl before I leave. I haven't been around to take her for walks though and I feel so bad about it. Today we went walking for about two hours, she sniffed and ran everywhere! I feel safe in my neighborhood, the only thing I don't like are the other doggies. Their owners don't take care of them.

So, this week I'd like you to take the time to give your doggie a little more special attention. Take them to the dog park or go on a hike with them. This Saturday we're going to go to our local nature center (they allow dogs) and go on a bird watch trail. Dezi should have lots of fun. They let the dogs run in a certain area, but we need to keep her on a leash everywhere else, which is fine because she doesn't mind. She likes to be close to us.

Or if you know someone who has a dog and they don't have much time to take them on their daily walks or they go out of town, make time to let them know that you are more than happy to give their pets the love and attention that they deserve!

  1. Our little Jack Russel, Lizzie, has gotten some extra snuggle time this week. I've been spending a lot of time in the recliner, and she's been there to make sure that I'm not lonely! :)

Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!

Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
