Thank you for stopping by for another week of Menu Plan Monday. I was talking to some moms about how Menu Plan Monday has helped not just me and my busy schedule, but for the whole family. My 5 year old is in bed by 8pm, daddy knows what to get out so mommy can get straight to cooking when I get home and less dishes!
Yup! I have been on the job hunt, which is going pretty well, and I have been getting home at or after 5pm. Before we started menu planning Vet's bed time was around 9 or 10pm. But not by choice, we usually would go out to eat if we couldn't decide or just didn't know what to make that night. We spent lots of money like that. That was also before baby #2 was born. So, now if we went out to eat we'd be feeding four mouths instead of just three, yikes! The menu plan also tells the whole family what we will be having. Daddy now being the stay-at-home dad he can go to the fridge and see what we will be having for dinner and although he won't cook dinner (sometimes he does) he will get out the frozen chicken or meat for me so it will be ready to go when I get home. And how can their possibly less dishes. I've heard moms say they don't cook at home because they don't like to do dishes. But menu planning has cut down on dishes. It's also self-perseverance. Before I would take out all sorts of dishes and utensils that I'd cook with, but now I see what I will be needing and ONLY use that. For example today I made chicken piccata and I instead of taking out a cutting board to slice the chicken I just used a plate. And when I was done with it I washed it and reused it to serve the food on. I also wash dishes as I go. I learned that from the baking class I took a few years ago. If we waited to wash the dishes until we were done baking we'd have to wait in line with everyone else and it would take a whole other hour wash the dishes! Ahh, never again.

Monday: Hamburger helper (home-made)
Tuesday: Lemon-herb chicken with pasta
Wednesday: Tuna melts w/fresh mozzarella and basil
Thursday: Spicy ground beef pita tacos with rice
Friday: Spaghetti with meatballs and garlic buttery bread
