Green Tip Tuesday - Got water?

Green Tip Tuesday

Yello bloggers & readers. Here is a quick tip for today on this rainy morning (here in Texas). This weekend my beagle, Dezi, broke her water bowl. It was a lovely ceramic bowl that I got for free off of my local Freecycle. I defiantly did not want to go out and buy a new one. So I stopped in my tracks and tried to think of something I already had that I can use. My dog is an inside and outside dog, so sometimes I find myself carrying her dog bowl full of water outside and often spill it all over my shoes!

Then it clicked! I have extra wipes boxes that I had used right after baby #2 was born (baby shower presents). I knew exactly where they were. So I ran to go get them from the garage, gave them a quick wash and then filled it up with water, closed the lid, and then took it outside.... WITH NO SPILLS! ((There were some drips, but not like before))

And since I had three. I just left one outside.... covered the lid so it wouldn't get full of leaves and dirt... and I put the other two inside where she usually eats (I want to see how she reacts) and filled one with water and the other with food. I closed the lids while she was out and it smelled less like dog food when I past by. GENIUS!

So that's my tip. If you are doing some traveling or like me who has an active dog you can hold your pets food and water in a handy dandy wipes box and when you're on the move, just close it up. I'm sure to make more of a seal you can add maybe some tape around the edges. You can also cover it with a piece of fabric to make it pretty.

Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!

Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
