A Time To Give - Seasons Greetings

Excerpt from "Saving and Giving"
Welcome back to A Time to Give, my weekly feature where we share ways to give, ways to share, ways to be generous. If this is your first time stopping by, welcome! You can read the original A Time to Give post HERE. In a nutshell, I started this feature as a way for us to inspire each other to be even more generous. I tend to get wrapped up in finding great deals, and I don't want to lose sight of one of the reasons we live frugally... to be able to give more. Each week I'll share a giving idea of mine, and you share a giving idea of yours.

Hello readers. I love Christmas time... don't you? After thanksgiving I didn't go shopping... I CLEANED! Yup. I organized all the items that are to be given away and sold. I also got rid of lots of clothes to offer to my local church organization, St. Vincent de Paul Society. They have a monthly "garage sale" where everything is FREE and is open to anyone in need. During the summer I also took clothes and there were so little donations coming in that they closed the doors all summer! I was so sad and I told everyone about it and tried to get some more people to donate. But they are re-open and just in time for the Season of Giving. I had so much clothes that I offered a whole other bag to FREECYCLE.

So, find it in your heart somewhere to help a organization in need.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

Comments

  1. That's incredible that the dontations were so few this summer that they had to close their doors. I'm glad to see that they're reopening... just when people probably need them most!

  2. My children and I are in the process of looking at their toys and seeing what they can share with others in the is season of plenty.

This is a lovely post. Thank you for encouraging us to share. :-)

Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!

Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
