A Time to Give - Gifts that Save

Hello and welcome to my weekly post of A Time to Give. A Time to Give is hosted by Jen at Saving and Giving. Head on over to participate in this post to share and read how others give or recieve during the holiday season.
This week I want to share how there are so many people who are willing to give during this holiday season. Last year it was a difficult time (and still is) for us because my husband had just got laid off from his job and his father was also severely ill. To top it off I was a few months pregnant. We had nothing for Christmas. I did not feel like shopping, baking, cooking, nothing. A friend from CafeMom shared this great website, WishUponA Hero and I posted what was happening in our life and I recieved many cards of encouragement and gifts for my 4 year old daughter. It did become a nice and thoughtful Christmas for us. We ended up traveling to my father-in-laws house the day after Christmas because he was taken to the hospitals Critical Care Unit. We all came together as a family and thanks to the beautiful cards I received I was able to stay strong for my husband. My father-in-law past on on Janurary 5th, 2009.
Now that almost a year has past I am much stronger and deal with hard times a bit better now. I think about those people and now! Thank you.
And remember that now is the perfect time to give and send cards to those who need it the most. How can you find these people? There are many website, you can contact your local salvation army, food bank and even the workforce centers in your area. Website that help are wishuponahero and more!

Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!

Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
