Sprout Organic Baby Food Review & Giveaway

SPROUT - Orgranic Baby Food

Sprout Organic Baby Food has come into our grocery stores and does not stay there very long! I decided to review this product because I want to share this with other babies out there who are longing for organic tasty food! Don't get me wrong, there are other baby food out there that is tasty, but none out there quite like Sprout!

Sprout Baby food was created by Max MacKenzie and Tyler Florence. This product was the creation of years of looking into every aspect of ingredients and packaging. They were influenced by the fact that they could help parents make easy and smart decisions as well as fatherhood. The result... Sprout!

I first learned about Sprout baby food at my local Health & Baby Expo, hosted by H-E-B. I talked with the reps and told me alot about the ingredients and that all the food is grown in Tylers' farms in California. They even has samples for the babies and made smoothies for adults! I had a Roasted Bananas & Mango Smoothie. It was delicious! I am going to try to re-create the recipe this holiday season so stay-tuned for that.

After going to the expo I slowly added Sprout baby food to my daughters meals. There are two stages offered. The first stage are single ingredient foods and you can start you baby on them at 6 months. The good part is that you can mix your own when you baby gets older. I've mixed Roasted apples and pears, YUM! Then stage two is where it gets exciting. Stage two can be offered to babies 7 months and older. Some of my favs are Roasted Bananas & Mango and Pasta with Lentil Bolognese! Check out some more great mixes...

All their baby food is free of preservatives, artificial colors and flavors. In addition, they provide choices of pouches that are sensitive to certain food allergens such as diary or wheat. The packaging is also something that makes them stand out from all the other baby jars. Their packaging is BPA Free. When Tyler and Max were thinking up the different packaging options they looked at the traditional glass jar. They found out that the energy used is way more than the energy used to make their pouch. The pouch is not currently recyclable, but their goal is to find a manufaturer that will be able to help them out. For the mean time I suggest if you do recycle to re-use the packaging for snacks! I have about 40+ pouches that I have sealed in a tote that I plan to re-use when my baby starts snacking on solids, like fruits and vegetables!
When I go to the store to buy my baby food I almost always have someone ask, "what is that?" I love to tell them all about it. I'm sure they still have more questions. One of the most common question that families new to eating organic is....

What does organic mean?

The National Organic Standards Board Definition of "Organic": (From the Organic Trade Association)
"Organic agriculture is an ecological production management system that promotes and enhances biodiversity, biological cycles and soil biological activity. It is based on minimal use of off-farm inputs and on management practices that restore, maintain and enhance ecological harmony.

'Organic' is a labeling term that denotes products produced under the authority of the Organic Foods Production Act. The principal guidelines for organic production are to use materials and practices that enhance the ecological balance of natural systems and that integrate the parts of the farming system into an ecological whole.

Cost: Very Affordable. Very Affordable: $0.01 - $3
Each pouch at my local grocery store is $.99. They had a coupon last week, buy two get a free Wee sippy cup! So I bought like 10 packs!

Preparation: To prepare the babyfood all you have to do is open the pouch. I did find it a bit hard to open. There are two slits on either side, but sometimes it doesn't open it, you have to use a knife to cut a bit below the swatch to open it. You can serve the baby food room temperature, chilled or warmed.

Cooking
Time
: You are not to put the baby food pouch into the microwave nor in boiling water. To warm, place pouch in some hot/warm water and leave it for a minute or so, depending on how warm you want the food.

Texture
: Both stages are a bit thick. I started giving it to my baby at 7 months and can easily eat it now that she has 4 teeth.

Taste
: Yum! I've never tasted baby food that was this good! Everyone was tasting her food at Thankgsiving. Your baby will never be happier (until they start eating whole foods!)

Smell
: There is some baby food that just doesn't cut it. Not with Sprout. You will be asking everyone to smell this baby food. Especially the Oatmeal with Roasted Cinnamon Apples.

Overall: 5 Stars!!!

NOTE
: If there is something that you'd like me to consider or suggest a product for me to review, use the Contact link at the top of the page or leave a comment here. I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Ungrateful during Thanksgiving?

Hubby made me cry on Thanksgiving.... The usual share what you're thankful for, he just went all out talking about how we had one of the toughest years and we were apart from each other for six months and how much he missed us and it just sucked. Ohhhh, the waterfalls!! But yeah, it was the longest year ever. Speaking of Thanksgiving.... HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Reminds me of something that's been on my mind....

We just moved out of the valley and guess what?! The worst part moving to a new place was not the moving. Before we moved I scoped out our neighborhood, grocery stores, parks and I joined several mom groups. I knew negative Nancy’s were bound to share their troubles in Facebook groups but I’ve never heard so many complaints in one day.

I don’t know what it is but I don’t like when people complain. I just think to myself, “Did you really have to share that?” or about an easy solution to that complaint. There would have been a better way to spend your time than writing a n…
