Long weekend...

Hello mama's,
The family went on a mini-vaca this weekend. We went up to Corpus to visit family. So, that's where we were if anyone was wondering. It was a great vacation. No T.V. no laptop and no mother! I love her, but you all know how irritating they can get. It was a great ride... we got caught in a short thunderstorm and as we drove out of it caught a glimps of a full size rainbow... beautiful.
We did have an obstacle before we even got there! The car stalled! But guess where it stalled, not even 15 minutes away. Hubby called a friend and he just came to pick us up. Hubby's uncle went to tow it and got it fixed right away. It was the timing belt. Did you know that most cars need to get them changed out ever 40k miles?! I guess cause it's an older car, 2002 Dodge Neon, it's has to get more maintenance. God bless Uncle Nuco!
Hubby's father past away at the beginning of this year and his brother lived with him at his house. So visiting his uncle in his dads house was awkward for hubby, I could scene it. But the girls had fun, I'm sure some day they will call his uncle grandfather.
Apart from visiting him I had lunch with my sister and her husband. They've been having troubles, but seem like they're getting through it okay. We had lunch at T.G.I. Friday's! My BIL had a free Jack Daniels Burger! Thanks to Woody. It looked yummy and he said it was delicious. After that we all went baby clothes shopping at a great re-sale shop called Once Upon A Child. The prices went up! They use to have lots of $1.50 and $2.00 clothes, but now they have outfits priced over $10.00. But I did some searching and bought three outfits for under $20.00.
I had some alone time as well. I got up a bit early and made a family favorite french fries with over-easy eggs! Yvette likes to dip them in the yolk! I also got to take a nice bath, which I hadn't done in a long time.
We also stopped by Krispy Cream, they have awesome donuts and also stopped by the peir to see the waves and fish after the rain. We saw a man hook a gorgeous flounder. Yvette was shocked as the man let us get a closer look at the fish. It was flapping like crazy and seagulls hoovering overhead. We had a late dinner and didn't end up leaving till 8pm and got home around 10:30. We all woke up late and Yvette is playing hooky.... shhh!

Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!

Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
