A Time to Give - WUAH -

When I found out I was pregnant I was totally estatic, but scared at the same time because we were on a tight budget. I heard about this one webiste from CafeMom where you can make wishes and see if there is a Hero out there that will help grant your with. The website was awesome. It's called WishUponAHero.com.

Here is how it all got started:
No wish too large. No hero too small.
Wish Upon A Hero was first conceived by founder Dave Girgenti shortly after the September 11th attacks on New York City. From his home in NJ, Girgenti watched as thousands of people posted pictures of missing loved ones throughout the city. He thought there had to be a faster, more organized way to connect people in need. That was the moment in which the idea was born.
It's free to join, free to make a wish and free to be a hero! All you need is a kind heart. Since I have joined, it's almost been a year, I have been a hero to 13 families and have found 15 heroes for myself. Locally, I helped a daughter who wished for new flooring for her mother. When we put in new floors last year we had about 50 feet leftover, so she stopped by my house to look at it and my hubby helped her put it in her truck. I've also sent christmas gifts to a brother and sister. I have received little socks for my daughters and pants for me to find work!

There are so many kind people out there looking for someone to help. When I joined only around 6,000 wishes had been granted. Today over 40,000 wishes have been granted. I love this website, I visit it about once a week to see if there is anyone I can help out and I try to spread the news about this website. Can you imagine if Oprah got ear of it. I'm sure she'd help many people.

Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1

Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!

Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
