Review Standards

On Thursdays is food & recipe day. I will be posting a review of a edible product or recipe of my liking; for now. I plan on review an edible product once a week when my schedule lets me. The review is not influenced by anyone, including my family!

~~~~~~~ Here are what my rating parameters ~~~~~~~
Cost
: There are 4 ratings for Cost. Very High, High, Affordable and Very Affordable. For each I have set limits on how much the actual product costs. If I am making a recipe that I am featuring, I will include two costs. One for the main product and another for the total spent (not including staples like salt n pepper).
Very High: $25.01 and over
High: $8.01 - $25
Affordable: $3.01 - $8
Very Affordable: $0.01 - $3
Preparation: Is what and how long it took to prepare before the actual cooking process began. I will sometimes include a time if it took longer than 5 minutes or so. I will list what was prepared and how (choped, diced, boiled). I will also include a rating of Easy, Medium or Hard if I had to do more than just boil water and dump in the food or open a can.
Cooking
Time
: The Cooking time will include only what the package recommends. If I cooked or seasoned more than what was recommended, I will note that and why.
Texture
: The texture portion of the review will not have a rating because everyone has different preferences. Although I will tell you what the texture is. For example; for pasta I will tell you what the texture is at the time when it should be done (recommended cooking time), and tell you what the texture was at that time. If I review a frozen dinner and the time recomends cooking for 3 minutes and I take it out and the middle is still frozen, I will put hard or cold and then note that I cooked an additional 2 minutes or so.
Taste
: Taste also does not have a rating. I do however tell you what the taste is like. Salty, sweet, scrumptious, etc.
Smell
: I will include the smell rating when appropriate. Ratings will be Bad, Good or Excellent and I will include a comment on why I rated it that way. It may smell bad, but I may still give it a rave review because it tasted fine. Smell is just the first reaction I get when I smell the end result.
Absorption
: For a product like pasta, I will rate it's Absorption or hold of the food (like cheese to the macaroni) and rate it Poor Good re Excellent.
Overall
: I will use a "Star" rating for the overall result of the food. Tiny, Small, Medium, Large or Extra Large. Overall rating may or may not include Smell & Taste as a factor because everyone had different smells and tastes that they are accustom to.
NOTE: If there is something that you'd like me to consider or suggest a product for me to review, use the Contact link at the top of the page or leave a comment here. I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Hickies: Back-to-School Series #1
Every Friday in the month of September I will share a few tips for making the transition for both kids and parents a bit easier. This first one is a doozie! HICKIES! Keep reading to learn what I'm talking about.... I try to buy my girls (i have 3 school-aged daughters) two or more pairs of shoes; an active shoe, which usually has laces, and a more casual/formal shoe, which usually doesn't have laces. Which ones do they choose to wear nearly every day to school? The ones that have shoe laces! Of course my oldes daughter, who's now 13, can tie her own shoes, but the other two still need help. And let's be real, even the oldest one I find myself nagging her to tie her laces correctly, she gets sloppy in the mornings at times. Here come HICKIES to save the day!
Hate tying your kids' shoes everyday before they step out of the house? Hate stopping to tie your own shoes mid-run? HICKIES products turn any pair of sneakers into convenient, comfortable, and stylish slip-on…
